Born in Canada in 1971, he came to Kyoto after a short-lived professional soccer career as a 22-year-old and has spent more than half of his life and nearly three decades living there. He is a mixed-media artist of "the floating world" http://www.petermacintosh.com and the owner of the boutique travel and leisure company http://www.kyotosightsandnights.com .When not looking for new experiences, culinary or otherwise, he spends most of his time researching, playing, documenting and living amongst the geiko/maiko (geisha) in Kyoto's Hanamachi(geisha districts).
