I'm a Florida girl who moved to Portugal with her husband and two dogs in Spring 2024. We have two adult kids in college in the U.S., so we're navigating empty-nesting from another country. Please subscribe if you want to see what it's *really* like to move abroad. I don't romanticize or sugar coat anything, and I am aware of how privileged we are to be able to make this move. 

I call myself the Mindful Migrant because we are mindful of how our status as immigrants (not expats) impacts locals. I am a strong believer in cultural appreciation (not appropriation!), personal transformation, and responsible integration. 

It is my goal to inspire others considering an international move by sharing experiences, resources, and tips for immigrants who want to be respectful participants in their new communities, rather than just economic opportunists. Ready? Vamos lá!
