Info
Fateh Ali Khan (1903-1963) and Mubarak Ali Khan (1881-1972) were musicians that originated from Jalandhar, India. Gifted in the art of Qawwali and classical Indian music, they became household names and were admired by intellectuals, civilians, political leaders, royalty, and other Qawwals across Asia. They mastered and memorised thousands of poetical verses in Urdu, Persian, Arabic, Turkish and Hindi.
After the partition of India, they migrated to Pakistan and continued to perform across Asia in spreading both music, philosophy and the works of some of the great poets including Rumi, Jami and Khusrow. They were undoubtedly the pioneers of Qawwali in the modern age.
The deaths predated the use of technology which could broadcast their music to the world. Now their tapes are being digitally restored for people in the 21st century so that people can hear a style of music that is no longer performed. Please listen, enjoy and share around.
