영화 “범죄도시4”는 배우 마동석이 직접 제작, 기획, 각색, 주연까지 맡은 한국의 대표적인 범죄 액션 영화 시리즈. 영어 제목은 . 실제로 일어난 강력 사건들을 모티브로 하고 있다. 마동석이 본인과 친분이 있는 형사 모임에서 들은 50여가지의 실제 사건들과 관련된 스토리 중에서 영화화하기에 적합한 사건을 약 10가지 정도로 추렸으며, 그 중 8편 정도를 제작할 예정이라고 한다. 1편과 2편은 마동석과 절친이자 시리즈의 주인공인 마석도의 모티브인 윤석호 경위에게 소스를 얻었다. 공식적으로 프랜차이즈화 시키려는 작품은 8편이지만, 관객들이 원한다면 계속해서 시리즈를 계속 더 이어나갈 수 있음을 시사하였다.

2024년 4월, 마동석이 범죄도시 4의 개봉을 앞두고 언론 인터뷰를 통해 밝힌 바에 의하면 4편까지가 시리즈의 1부라 볼 수 있고 5편부터 8편까지가 시리즈의 2부라 볼 수 있을 것이며, 향후 5편부터 8편에 이르기까지 다뤄질 4개의 사건은 가장 현대에 있는 이야기가 될 것이라고 한다. 또한 스핀오프를 제작할 수도 있다고 한다.
