What do you think of Adobe’s Project Neo? Neo is a free web app that lets you set up a 3D comp and share it w/ Firefly to create repeatable AI imagery. Forget the prompt “engineers”; make great AI using your hard-won talents! Check out my full thoughts here!

In deference to Election Day 2024, I won’t be posting my usual Tuesday video to give us all a chance to focus—nay, fixate—on the news of the day as it surprises, amazes, and unfolds. Keep calm, stay safe, and don’t bother the working people who are just trying to do their jobs. (Btw, I created today’s image using a combination of the bleeding-edge web apps Project Neo and Firefly. However flawed, American exceptionalism marches on.) See you with something big next Tuesday!

A few weeks ago, I recorded a short celebratory ode to the current state of A.I. Made with the help of Udio, Photoshop, and Firefly—replete with my own lyrics and 63 frames of mind-bending imagery—it’s a singular blend of mortal and machine. If you have a spare 57 seconds, check it out! I’m eager to know what you think!

Today, dekeNow (this very YouTube channel) has reached 10 thousand subscribers. By sheer coincidence, I’ve also racked up over 250 thousand views. And it’s all happened in under 16 months. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who has liked, subscribed, and turned on notifications—or for that matter watched so much as a single video. A very special thanks to my patrons (patreon.com/dekenow), who are helping to make this experiment possible. After working for one publisher or other for the last several decades, it’s nice to just wing it and do my own thing. And that’s thanks to you.

Hey, everyone! Some of you may have noticed that I’ve been strangely silent the last two Tuesdays, September 5 and 12. Without getting too in-the-weeds, I had a small scare that landed me, briefly, in the hospital—an exciting first for me. And while I’m happy to report, all is 100% well, a celebration of life seemed in order. So my wife and I went road-tripping to, among other places, Mesa Verde! That's the Square Tower House below, built by Ancestral Puebloans around 1100 C.E., and captured and retouched (with surprising accuracy) by me in the present day. (Heck yeah, I’ll admit to some Generative Fill.) Today, I am returned and fully back in the saddle. And rest assured, I’ll be back with a new video this Tuesday, September 19.

Hello, everyone! Just a quick note to let you know: From now on, I’m moving to Tuesdays. So check back here Tuesday, April 11, for another of my exhaustive and action-packed videos, this time on that tried and true standard that we all know and love, Photoshop. This one’s going to be epic!

Adobe just dropped their brand new AI image generator called Firefly! I put the same prompt into Firefly, MidJourney, and Stable Diffusion; which do you think is better?! (I definitely have my favorite!)
Adobe Firefly
MidJourney
Stable Diff
