Info
The Village of Mayville owned a suitable building that would be converted into a studio. During the winter of 1994-95 Town of Chautauqua highway department employees turned into contractors to remodel the facility. Access Channel 5 became operational in June 1995 with their community bulletin board. In a trial by fire move, the channel's first live production was coverage of the July 4th parade the following month. Before the end of July, a program called Senior Report with Reed Powers began.
In November 2000 the studio moved into a brand new Pre-K through 12 school. The equipment was relocated over a period of six days. The channel was only "off the air" for two hours while the return feed was switched over. During that winter the return feed was switched to a dedicated fiber feed, resulting in a huge improvement in picture quality.
Access Channel 5 is Currently Residing in the Old Mayville Central School Building, Work was completed in Summer of 2010.
