Georg von Ehren: Bits and Pieces from the Archive of a Balkan Correspondent
My journalism career began in 1994 when I was sent to the Balkans. In 1995, I produced my first TV story from Pristina for Deutsche Welle, followed by years of reporting across former Yugoslavia and Albania, covering key events like the wars in Croatia, Bosnia, the Kosovo conflict, and protests against Milosevic. Now based in Vienna, I regularly return to the region to observe and analyze its developments.
This channel shares carefully selected footage and interviews with key figures who shaped Balkan history. These "lost tapes" offer unique insights into events that defined the region—many still relevant today. The selection should not be overinterpreted; there is no hidden agenda. These are primarily historical excerpts—often serious, but sometimes curious from today’s perspective.
Much of this footage was never released, as only brief portions were used in news coverage.
