Wow 🎉 ONE MILLION subs…

You know, when I first got my 100k silver play button, I thought, “I’ll never get another one since the next one is at 1 mil.” One mil felt completely unrealistic…

So THANK YOU for watching and sharing and commenting and supporting me 🙏 Whether you’re new or have been with me since the OG days (aka. before I got a perm).

I want to give more value back to YOU, as a thank you. So to celebrate, I’ve planned a 1 mil special LIVE workshop, hosted here on YouTube 🎉

(…BUT I didn’t expect to hit 1 mil for another month, so it’s coming in MARCH - stay tuned!)

When I started YouTube 4 years ago (stuck in my room during COVID), no one was seriously talking about learning science. I just thought there’s some stuff I figured out over the years that I think other people would find useful…

To think my videos have been viewed over 50 million times now… That’s double the number of sheep in NZ 😯 (and we have a LOT of sheep).

Thank you all again, and thank you to my team behind the scenes who made my “unrealistic” goal of 1 mil a reality.

And for those of you who actually read this entire post, I’d love to know what your favourite video is and what made you click subscribe!

P.S. I only had to drive 15 minutes from my house to find these sheep 🐑

Currently, I'm experimenting with a variety of YouTube formats, and one of them is a long-form Q&A video where I spend 30+ minutes answering the most common questions you have.

So if you have a question you'd like me to personally answer, leave it as a comment on this YouTube post.

Please keep your question to 1-2 sentences and focused on one topic.

Note:
- You can ask more than one question (just leave each question as a separate comment).
- The questions can be on anything study or learning related. (e.g. study techniques, learning skills, procrastination, productivity, time management, memory, note-taking, mind maps, focus, and motivation)

Looking forward to your questions!

Early last year I was given the opportunity to publish a solo authored chapter by Springer Nature, one of the world's most prestigious academic publication houses (if you've ever picked up a textbook, there's a good chance it was Springer).

Even though you guys probably get sick of me talking about higher-order learning all the time, outside of my channel, it's still a rarely talked about topic. So having the chance to talk about my area of expertise for such a high-level publication was a chance I couldn't pass by.

And on New Years Eve, the published book with my chapter was delivered to my door step!

2024 was a year of a lot of learning and I'm excited to put it into action in 2025.

There are so many ideas for making more content that is even more valuable and specific based on the feedback I've gotten so far, as well as a tonne of updates and enhancements underway for iCanStudy (for those of you who are on there).

Wishing you all a fulfilling 2025. And for those of you who struggled through 2024, it will get better. You're doing great, moving at the speed you need to be moving. Trust the process and put your head down!

Hey everyone, I'm glad to see the community enjoy the last video. The team and I are working hard to bring you new formats to help you with your study journey. Currently, I'm working on a new video format where I answer common study Q&As that students have, and I'd love your help in picking the best title so the video helps as many people as possible

Thank you, and all the best

“Top students, what’s your secret to getting good grades?"

“Why am I bad at studying?”

“People with good grades: what are your study habits?”

“Why do I suck at studying so much?”

Thank you everyone so much for 600k!
Myself and the team have been working hard at trying to make more valuable content (you might have noticed the last few videos have been a little different). I hope you all have liked it and I'm looking forward to how you all find the next couple videos we're editing right now.

So I just finished hiking over the last 4 days in Milford Sound here in NZ, an area recently designated as the 8th wonder of the world. I had no signal and slogged around 60km (~36 miles) in the cold wet but majestic mountains of Middle Earth.

And upon exiting this magical waterfall filled valley, I discovered 2 things:

1) My knees are fragile and easily injured
2) I reached 500k subscribers!

So in conclusion, THANK YOU all and I will shortly resume to make more content that helps you 🙏

I’m currently at my hotel before I fly back home tomorrow checking my 300 missed emails and messages…..

(Luckily I don’t need knees to teach 😅)

I look happy in the photo but actually I’m apprehensive. Why?

Because I just deactivated my Instagram app blocker 🚫

Most of you probably have heard me talk about using app blockers for focus. And for a very long time I’ve had Instagram blocked.

I found it wasn’t good for my mental health or focus. And blocking it worked great!

Unfortunately it also meant I couldn’t really engage or be active on Instagram for my followers since I only had time for a post, urgent message check and a minute of scrolling.

HOWEVER I’m hoping my self control holds up because I’m going to try and be a bit more active on IG, posting some more behind the scenes and interacting with you guys a bit more in general.

If you want, come find me @drjustinsung on IG.

Wish my mental health luck 🫡

… hope this post doesn’t age poorly……
