Founded in november 2020, Self-Education Platform is a non-profit organization aimed at introducing non-formal education in Armenia. SEP derives most of its inspiration from the German and Scandinavian system of philosophies Bildung and Folk-bildung. Bildung is the combination of the education and knowledge necessary to thrive in your society, and the moral and emotional maturity to both be a team player and have personal autonomy. Bildung is also knowing your roots and being able to imagine the future. That is the core idea behind the actions and activities of SEP in Armenia: creating an environment for Armenians to cultivate themselves into people who will not give as much esteem to outward actions, personal or political, as they will for individuality and inner development. One of the aims of SEP in Armenia is to diversify the career and self-growth choices of the individuals and extend it beyond the confines of standard education as is common nowadays in Scandinavian folk schools.
