Info
Vancouver-based. We write songs about spaces and sometimes about architecture.
Inspired by summer nights on rooftops in the Prairies, architecture, furniture, spinning circles, and dreams of California, Violet Brut & the Late Day Spaces was born from a day when a snow storm shut down Vancouver, and there was nothing left to do but write songs. We have songs about design, the Eames House, Falling Water, the story of the Little Prince, Duchamp, songs inspired by Michelangelo Antonioni, and many songs about our favourite places, and about chairs (yes, we actually sing about chairs way too often).
We try to write pop songs, but grew up listening to punk rock and on the prairies so our sound sort of has an acoustic punk prairie melodic sensibility. Follow us on our journey as we start to record and post more original songs.
Generally two guitars, sometimes violin and mandolin. And hoping to incorporate more instruments as we continue on. Thank you for your support. Please subscribe.
